A Learning Commons Beyond Institutional Ownership

Institutions may remain useful nodes in education. The error is allowing the node to become the purpose.
Drawing on experience across vocational, community and higher education, this essay proposes a distributed learning commons in which learners retain continuity across settings, educators steward relationships rather than merely deliver products, and accountability demonstrates public and learner benefit rather than procedural compliance alone.
